International Women’s Day 2021

In support of International Women’s Day 2021, we’ll be celebrating a range of our female employees across the week, as we ask them to share their thoughts and experiences around topics such as gender equality and diversity, as well as advice and wisdom they would share with their younger self, if they could!

Teresa Bello – National Account Manager

With over 25 years of live event experience, Teresa Bello has supported her clients with the planning and delivery of their event and communication strategies and plans to work closely with clients over the next 12 months to help them prepare and plan for the future.

Teresa shared her thoughts and experiences with us below, for International Women’s Day 2021.

Who has inspired you most as a woman?

I applaud equality for women in sport and most notably, as a young woman growing up with a passion for sport myself, I really looked up to Sally Gunnell OBE.  She has a special place in the nation’s hearts and is one of Britain’s most favourite sportswomen of all time.

She is the only women to hold four major track titles concurrently – Olympic, World, European and Commonwealth. Today she is a presenter and motivational speaker, as well as helping companies to set up programmes to get their staff engaged and physically active and healthy. She is a true inspiration.

Can you share a piece of advice that has stayed with you throughout your career?

The advice and key phrase that has really stood out in my career is to always have a considered approach. There are different ways you can approach something, don’t just rush ahead – think first!

What does gender equality mean to you and why do you think diversity is important in the workplace?

Culture does not make people. People make culture.

Diversity in the workplace is important so that we can all share different experiences, characteristics and backgrounds. It makes us more rounded as people and more understanding of each other.

What piece of advice would you give to your younger self, if you could?

Follow your dreams. If you have goals and aspirations then find the right people to help you achieve them and get as much experience of life as you can.

Join us tomorrow where we’ll continue to celebrate and recognise International Women’s Day across the week, as we hear from some more of the team at Corporate Events.
