International Women’s Day 2021
In support of International Women’s Day 2021, we’ll be celebrating a range of our female employees across the week, as we ask them to share their thoughts and experiences around topics such as gender equality and diversity, as well as advice and wisdom they would share with their younger self, if they could!

Lizzie shares her thoughts below around the women who have inspired her most, as well as equality and diversity and advice she’d give to her younger self, if she could.
Who has inspired you most as a woman?
All female friends! I love that as women we have this unspoken rule to ‘power each other up’ and that on a daily basis, we’re able to champion one another, both in the workplace and in our personal lives – it makes so much difference. I often think about the fact that men don’t necessarily do this for one another, and what a difference that would make.
Can you share a piece of advice that has stayed with you throughout your career?
To be one team, you must all be ‘in it together’, working towards the same goal. Also, be kind – there is no need to be rude, even if someone deserves it.
What does gender equality mean to you and why do you think diversity is important in the workplace?
Gender equality means so much to me. To live in world where women have just as much right to a role than a man and to be paid the same for it, is the goal. Equally not being judged for speaking your mind, or speaking out is just as important without being labelled bossy or emotional because you’re a woman – sadly, this is sometimes the case in this world.
Without diversity how do you expect a workplace to grow to be the best that it can be? There is nothing greater than bringing different cultures, experience, abilities and ideas together within a team.
What piece of advice would you give to your younger self, if you could?
Have more confidence in yourself and don’t be afraid to make mistakes. We’re all human and it’s through mistakes that we learn and grow.
Join us tomorrow where we’ll continue to celebrate and recognise International Women’s Day across the week, as we hear from some more of the team at Corporate Events.
