Now in its 40th year, the IGD Glitter Ball is ‘THE’ Christmas party for the food and grocery industry attracting hundreds of decision makers for an evening of networking and entertainment. Each year the event’s revenue goes towards Feeding Britain’s Future, IGD’s charitable initiative that is changing the lives of thousands of young people in the UK. The event also offers recognition for team members and numerous networking opportunities for industry kicking off the Christmas season. Our brief was to design an event that fully encompassed a party atmosphere that everyone could enjoy.
The client gave us full creative control over the event concept and was as excited as we were with the ‘fire and ice’ theme. The set was designed to create a dramatic and almost industrial feel within the ballroom. Using exposed truss, a large projected screen, varying stage heights and multiple LED panels, we stayed away from the conventional stage set. The less structured look supported the dramatic content that was created to be shown on the numerous screens. The content showed roaring flames meeting icy snowflakes, emphasising the contrasting elements. The reception and the Ballroom were designed with exceptional attention to detail bringing the two natural elements together creating a great atmosphere for all the charity activities and entertainment.
Every element of the event production was designed around the fire and ice theme. A winter wonderland welcomed guests into the event with white LED furniture, sparkling Christmas trees and snowflakes hanging from the windows, whilst the main ballroom was flooded with red and yellow lighting and smoke geysers welcomed the entertainment and presenters onto the stage. The event was jam-packed with entertainment, charity activities
