Background

For 2019, IGD launched a major new flagship event for the UK grocery industry – IGD Live.

Offering delegates the opportunity to learn, connect and grow, IGD Live 2019 aimed to bring together IGD’s existing channel events under one roof at the iconic Tobacco Dock, London.

IGD wanted their delegates to have the opportunity to attend an individual insight stream or create their own personalised programme by combining elements of each, helping delegates to grow both within and across multiple channels, featuring ground-breaking keynote presentations from industry leaders.

Solution

Having worked with IGD on several projects, we were able to assist them on their 2019 event production. The event took place over multiple rooms which required us to create a versatile set design that worked for the main room but could then be scaled to suit the other rooms to create an event identity throughout the live event.

The event consisted of 2 lives days with all streams taking place simultaneously, accompanied by a vast exhibition area for networking and lunch, a press lounge and speakers lounge. After a day’s set up, rehearsals were held for each stream, along with onsite content support to assist each presenter over the three days. We hosted this within the speakers lounge then facilitated the live distribution of the content to each stream in line with the event agenda.

With over 1000 attending IGD Live 2019, it was crucial that the sessions all ran to time and delegate movement between the rooms was seamless. Enabling delegates to interact and engage, whilst providing the very best event production and creative platforms throughout the five areas in order to host an impressive 150 industry experts, as they shared their insights and knowledge across 118 presentations, over 49 sessions – just 2 days. Providing balance was key.

Attendees came together at the end of each day for exclusive keynotes from the industry’s most influential, tackling the issues that really mattered, as well as providing commercial insights and opportunities.

As day two came to a successful close, Corporate Events were preparing to welcome a further 500 guests for the evening awards ceremony, who would gather to celebrate business excellence, people development, sustainability and individual success in the grocery industry at the IGD Awards 2019.

The Awards opened with a thrilling performance from the Ibiza Electric String Trio, followed by rapturous applause as the winners were announced; each with their own walk-up sting played live by DJ Raf Hale-0. Guests were entertained until the early hours at the After Party with DJ Raf Hale-0 and a branded GIF Booth providing a digital memory – perfect for a strong social media reach!

Outcome

Through IGD Live 2019, the existing channel events on digital commerce, food to go, category management and convenience retail were successfully brought together for almost 1500 delegates across the 2 days.

For Corporate Events, IGD Live 2019 has demonstrated our passion for becoming an extension of our client’s team, finding a balance between event production and the delegate experience, as well as our determination to continue to be a leading choice for event production across our industry.

IGD Live 2020 is well underway.
