The Retailers’ Retailer Awards are THE awards for the UK eating and drinking out sector. Bringing together the senior tier of the industry, the awards recognise true excellence in the market as voted for by senior sector executives. The event welcomes 450 guests to the Guildhall, where it has been held for a number of years, for an evening of celebration and networking.
Edging out of their 20th year, the client wanted to put a fresh new spin on the awards. With the location set as the Guildhall, the perfect setting for the scale and eminence of this event, the client looked to us for an exciting new set design.
Our creative team devised a dual screen set that looked slick and modern. Central to the design was the awards logo to ensure the best photo opportunities. LED flex edging provided a custom lightshow for each winner. The MCA are meticulous in choosing the perfect walk-up tracks for their winners, which makes the awards feel extra special, and the LED flex lightshows were designed to match each track.
The Retailers’ Retailer is always a big evening in this sectors calendar. Musician, Comedian and Strictly Come Dancing Contestant, Rev Richard Coles, provided entertainment preceding the awards and with Alan Dedicoat as Voice of God (and also the voice of Strictly) the pair set the evening off to a great start. 12 categories were awarded, including the lifetime achievement award; James Wallin presided as host for the evening in his first year as editor of MCA. A raffle was also held to raised money for the Tim Bacon Foundation, with a prize of a 18ct Rose Gold ‘Honeycomb’ Diamond Pendant donated by David M Robinson’s. Following the awards, after party drinks were held in the Guildhall’s medieval East & West Crypts, with multiple sponsored bars. As this event is used primarily as a networking event, evening entertainment was kept minimal with a DJ supplying background music to the crowd. The celebration continued into the early hours with an after after party held at The New World Trade Company’s Trading House.
